The visualization is based on the analysis of satellite acquisitions over the locations with major oil spills in Nigeria. The analysis highlights those acquisitions of Pléiades satellite constellation which took place within a certain time range after the oil spill. Using the SQL interface, users could distinguish the time range for the research. Points represent the location of spills showing the estimated quantity of oil, and the number of days between spill and imagery.
Pléiades’ imageries coverage was collected using the UP42-Python SDK. Oil spills data is collected by the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency.
Widgets allow users to filter the spills data based on the type of accident and the operating company. The time-series widget visualizes the date when the spill has happened.
